The DPA reaches ordinary work
Employees and managers process personal data throughout the working day, often without thinking of the task as a data protection decision.
This 60-minute course introduces Botswana’s Data Protection Act in clear workplace terms. It helps learners understand what personal data and processing mean, who must comply with the Act, and why the rules matter when information is collected, used, shared, stored or otherwise handled.
The course is suitable for people who need a sound introduction to the DPA rather than specialist privacy training.
The course
Understand the main DPA rules
The course explains the purpose and main elements of Botswana’s Data Protection Act, the meaning of personal data and processing, and the people and organisations that may have responsibilities under the Act.
It introduces the main rules and conditions that should guide the processing of personal data at work.
Scenario-based examples help learners connect these rules to decisions about collecting, using, sharing, storing and protecting personal data.
Learners leave with a clearer basis for recognising when they are processing personal data, why care is required and when they should follow an internal procedure or ask for guidance.

A foundation, not a privacy qualification
The course is designed for broad employee and manager awareness. It can be useful across HR, IT, compliance, operations, finance, customer service and other teams that handle personal data.
It gives these groups a common understanding of the DPA and the main processing rules that apply to everyday work.
It is not specialist preparation for a Data Protection Officer or privacy lead. It should not be presented as detailed training on privacy impact assessments, breach management, data-subject requests, cross-border transfers or the design of an organisation’s data protection programme.
