overview
Marketing code training, done responsibly.
Marketing Code training equips South African pharmaceutical and medical device teams to promote health products lawfully — under the MCA Code, the Medicines Act and Regulation 45.
Knowing the Code of Marketing Practice is one thing; applying it is another. The real work begins with a specific promotional claim, an HCP interaction, an event, a sample, a sponsorship or a complaint.
This course helps everyone involved in promoting medicines, medical devices and IVDs understand South Africa’s regulatory framework and apply the Code in real workplace situations. It’s built for organisation-wide rollout rather than individual enrolment, so it can be aligned with your own policies, approval processes and compliance framework by connecting the Code to your team’s day-to-day decisions and giving them the confidence to get those decisions right.
It suits marketing, sales, compliance and HCP-facing teams alike, including anyone new to the Code.
The course
Work through the main risk areas
Across 11 modules, the course moves from the regulatory framework, the Marketing Code Authority and the legislation underpinning the Code to the decisions employees face in marketing content and activity.
This Marketing Code training course covers medicines law, claims and substantiation, artwork, public marketing, social media influencers, interaction with HCPs, gifts and incentives, donations and grants, CPD events, and complaint and appeal procedures.
Using scenario-based examples helps learners identify relevant risks, understand boundaries, and choose the right route when uncertainty or concern arises.
Core idea
Marketing Code training helps employees recognise risky claims, interactions and promotions before they become regulatory problems.
More than a Code overview
Prepare staff for scenario-based Code application
This is a substantial course rather than a short introduction. It starts with the foundations and then follows the Code into the areas where employees must exercise judgement.
That depth can also support people preparing for the MCA competency assessment. However, the course’s main value is broader: it helps learners understand the rules that apply, the conditions that may need to be met, and when a proposed activity requires checking, approval, or escalation.
Help staff apply the Marketing Code in real scenarios.
No. This course is designed for organisational rollouts and is configured as part of a client implementation. Because it may incorporate organisation-specific policies, approval processes, and compliance requirements, it is not offered for individual enrolment.
The course is not structured as a page-by-page commentary on the Code.
It is organised around the main regulatory and practical areas learners need to understand, including the regulatory framework, medicines law, marketing content, public promotion, social media, HCP interaction, incentives, CPD events and complaints.
This helps learners connect the Code to workplace decisions rather than memorise isolated provisions.
Yes. The breadth of the course and its focus on applying the Code can support preparation for the MCA competency assessment.
It is not the MCA assessment, does not replicate the assessment format and does not guarantee a pass. Its main purpose is to help learners understand and apply the Code in their work.
Yes. The course introduces the South African regulatory framework for the marketing of health products and explains the legal requirements for marketing medicines.
This includes the Medicines Act principles that underpin the relevant Marketing Code requirements. The course then connects those legal requirements to claims, marketing content, HCP engagement, public promotion and other regulated activities.
The course works through the situations in which Marketing Code risk commonly arises. These include unsupported or misleading claims, inappropriate public messaging, disguised promotion, HCP interactions, incentives, hospitality, samples, sponsorships, CPD events, influencer activity and complaint handling.
The focus is on helping learners recognise when a decision requires checking, substantiation, approval or escalation.
Yes. The course is intended for organisational rollout only, and can be configured to reflect your organisation’s policies, approval processes, internal contacts and other organisation-specific requirements, subject to scope.
This helps learners connect the Code to the way marketing decisions are reviewed and managed within the organisation.
